Briquetting Coke

The process of binding together pulverized minerals, such as coal dust, into briquets under pressure, often with the aid of a binder, such as Molases.

A Coke briquette, preferably intended for use as additional combustible in shaft furnaces.

Briquettes were produced in one kg scale (Around 25-30 brquettes by using laboratory hand briquerring press having compaction load 3-4 ton.) Coke fines, lime, molasses additives binder were mixed in desired proportion in presence of very precisely controlled moisture level. The mixture was subjected to compaction under load 3-4 ton by hand briquetting press. The green strength was measured by drop from a meter (DFM). Brequettes were cured for serval hours under natural condition, Also hot curing was done in oven and Muffle Furnace. Strength of the hot and naturallycured briquettes were measured by compression testing machine, Bulk density and weather resistant properties were also noted.

Proximate Analysis of Coke Fines : -

Moisture 02.04 %
Volatile Matter 06.42 %
Ash 20 %
Fixed Carbon 70 %
